About the Game
Assimilate is a single-player puzzle platforming computer game for everyone. Find your way out while avoiding getting swallowed by the monsters. Eh wait... I can transform into a monster?
Players need to keep a balance between where they can blend into the enemy to avoid being attacked, and be able to use their abilities, while not for too long so they become one of them. Along with that, players also need to use their platforming skills to jump, climb, or compress, using monster abilities to move forward in the level.
This short little game is may by four University of Utah students as a class project.
Before We Start...
Would You Like Some BGM?
Here is the background music I created for this game, welcome to use it as a BGM while going through this page.
Background
As the only Artist in our small team, I am responsible for all of the art assets. Starting with a one-layer background, I found it lacking depth. I then separated them into different layers with different colors and placed them with some space between them. They now move at a different speed as players moves forward creating depth in space.

Characters and Animations
With our game design, we have three character/ character stages in total. Therefore, I created pixel-style flipbook animations in Photoshop with each stage's walking&idle, death, and respawn.
Platforms
After we lay out how we want our level to play and passed playtesting, I start creating our final platforms.

Blueprints
Since we are a small team, I also helped out with simple Blueprints like writing codes for the math of transformations, screen effects, sounds, etc.
